Solaiemes to exhibit at MWC 2014.

As previous years Solaiemes is  exhibiting at the Mobile World Congress 2014. Our stand will be located in the Spanish Pavilion in the Congress Square in the corridor communication the Halls 4 & 5. In the Pavilion our Stand is the number 14.

Solaiemes is presenting its new products with the focus on helping telcos to monetize new enablers as RCS (Rich Communication Services) and tools as WebRTC.
Solaiemes has the right portfolio at the proper time to market but needs strong commercial partnerships (you know, in this telco world size matters) and/or get additional funding for the growth stage. We are interested in meeting:

- Telcos: mobile, fixed, triple play or even OTTs eager to integrate RCS/joyn in their offerings with monetizaton platforms and also interested in WebRTC to generate telco revenues.
- Investors: yes, we are looking for some fuel to accelerate our growth. Yes, we know that Spain is no a sexy country for VC's and telco technology is not the preferred area for investors, but we keep trying :(
- Partners: complementary technology providers or integrators wanting to pioneer RCS and WebRTC in their countries integrating our solutions.
- M&A guys from companies interested in expanding portfolio through selected acquisitions.

If you want to schedule a meeting contact us at: mwc (at) solaiemes (dot) com

MWC 2013 Summary: finally joyn is taking off.

One week after MWC we would like to summarize the key topics related with the technology we do.
Finally joyn took off, announcements as America Movil launching in Mexico using the Vodafone hosted core and the brave move from MetroPCS announcing the lauch of joyn as OTT for non-customers in North America were impressive. We were visited by other telcos soon to launch using that shared joyn hosted core asking about our network API exposure and compatibility (yes, it is compatible).

Also the RCS Seminar was very interesting and we could listen from marketers from big consumer brands as CocaCola and L'Oreal talk about the need of a "multimedia" global reach way to interact with customers, and joyn could be this new global reach channel. This is what our API enables :-)

We received many visits, and visitors sent to our booth by previous visitors. We received people from 5 continents, and even were interviewed for an asian TV broadcaster and received a positive mention by a telco leading analyst, Alan Quayle. We also met potential investors and new potential partners.

After 1 week read new annoucements as Zain lauching joyn in the Middle East and Forrester starting to cover joyn and pointing its role for business comms and the API as key element and we know that more telcos are issuing RFI/RFP for RCS core solutions and requiring network API exposure, good to see they got the "as a platform" concept.

Other hot topic was Firefox OS, the new mobile platform based on HTML5 and new telcos and device manufacturers supporting it. We were the first in the world to demonstrate joyn using HTML5 in Firefox OS devices using the developer devices (1st Firefox OS device) by our friends of Geeksphone.

We could also install our joyn client in the stand of ZTE with ist Firefox OS phone, and took 1 pic :-)

As Firefox OS could be the first smartphone for most of people, telcos can leverage it by deploying joyn based on our network API, not telcos protocols, just HTML5, our product matches the Firefox OS philosophy, the backend could be telco stuff, but the front-end could be based on web technologies.

As a summary, we are positive, joyn is a kyte starting to fly, winds in favour now.

Regarding the new venue perhaps it is too big and not so well communicated by public transport, we miss the old venue for MWC.
Our photo-album of the event just here

Solaiemes to exhibit at MWC 2013

Solaiemes will be present at Mobile World Congress 2013 as exhibitor next 25-28 February in Barcelona.
This year will be the year of RCS/joyn. It took too long to be a reality in the market but finally it is. We can see live services in Spain, Germany, US & South Corea, 3 continents during the past 2012. RFI/RFQ acitvity is progressively meaningful.
Also, during 2012 our aim of RCS as a platform open & ubiquitous became a key differentiator from OTTs. GSMA launched the joyn Innovation Accelerator to engage developers with the services and experiment with the joyn network API and we were selected as API supplier.
We are working with 3 tier-1 groups and have a number of prospects we expect to convert along 2013.

We are interested in meeting during the MWC with:

- Telcos: mobile, fixed, triple play or even OTTs eager to integrate joyn in their offerings.
- Investors: yes, we are looking for some fuel to accelerate our growth.
- Partners: complementary technology providers or integrators wanting to pioneer joyn in their countries integrating our solutions.
- M&A guys from companies interested in expanding portfolio through selected acquisitions.

Our stand will be located in the Spanish Pavilion #CS60, in the corridor between Halls 4&5 (same corridor where GSMA stand will be located).

MWC 2012, Joyn is taking off, our views.

After 4 very hectic days at Mobile World Congress 2012 we are back creating new products to move Joyn to the next stage :-)
We would like to share our views about this MWC 2012 and what the launch of Joyn means.
Firstly, finally RCS-e technology has a common name for the service, Joyn, combining the "join", sense of community and "joy" as fun. Great branding strategy. A lot of pins delivered with the logo, name, and also with the feature icons of the service, people with shirts with the logo walking across the exibition area, a huge paint in the main corridor and a GSMA exhibition zone for Joyn vendors (we exhibited there during the mornings). GSMA did a good work to increase awarenes.

The news regarding the Vodafone Spain launch as beta with an app for Android means that today Joyn is a live service and now is when the playground is open. New telcos joining and devices Joyn enabled will come soon.
Even Apple says it is not interested in supporting Joyn, Joyn apps for iPhone are being tested by client vendors with a very good user experience, then, Joyn will be also present in the "Apple world", and our web client based in RCS-e Thin Client Server can be in Apple devices. Not an issue then.

A huge concern about launching Joyn expressed by carriers in the past, the lack of RCS-e enabled devices will not be a problem anymore. We were asked by several device vendors about using our RCS-e Testing Solution, already in production in a live Joyn network and verified as a way to speed up the Joyn their native clients development and testing. Some device vendors will find an opportunity in Joyn to sell their product through the carrier channel and telcos to offer a powerful service even with medium tier devices. Win Win combination.

The RCS Seminar with keynotes and panels about G5 telcos pushing forward Joyn showed commitment and they talked about more telcos planning to launch, and also US & Canada offering the service, perhaps with the enhanced RCS 5.0 release. We were glad to "listen" from that RCS-e is an start, and it is not mere messaging but a platform, a vision/message we are evangelizing time ago.

We receive a lot of visits in our shift (mornings) at GSMA stand and in our own stand at Spanish Pavilion. We were visited by telcos interested in how our technology makes RCS-e a platform, how thin (web) clients can help to launch the service in different device tiers and types of screen, how our testing solution will help them in the process of verifiying their core and devices and how "messaging" completion platform could help to improve the OTT alternative messaging user experience and give users configuration capabilities to manage their messaging settings.

We have many meetings with IMS and instant messaging vendors and client developers to partner and work together making Joyn happen. As our technology is no overlapping traditional vendors we foresee interesting cooperation ahead. We were also visited by market and business intelligence analyst eager to understand our vision and the availability of our products and we would thank them the time they spent with us.

On the other hand we find a bit frustrating that big vendors has not an open stand, they had "invitation only", while their representatives were visiting us. For us it was shocking that companies with thousands of engineers are so concerned about small companies. We do not have secret products because we think to help Joyn to grow it is needed to show all the possibilities that it will enable as soon as possible and of course we explain what we do to the people of companies who has "invitation only" stands. We prefer openness :-) and cooperation.

We expect to have many positive things to communicate this year, the results of MWC encouraged us to keep up work.

Solaiemes to exhibit at Mobile World Congress 2012.

We are pleased to announce that Solaiemes will attend the Mobile World Congress 2012 (Barcelona 27/2-1/3 2012) as exhibitor.

Solaiemes will be showcasing all the technology developed along the year to help telcos to make RCS-e a platform enabling services that could be monetized and at the same time delight their customers and engage the developers. Last year we unveiled RCS-e Solution GW (GSMA RCS DevChallenge 2011 Innovation Category Winner) and RCS-e Thin Client Server. This year we are showcasing the new feature of those 2 products and new platforms as:

  • RCS-e Testing Solution to help telcos, RCS-e Clients & IM Server suppliers to speed up the IOT process to reduce the time needed to roll-out the commercial service.
  • RCS-e Personal Manager which includes 2 IMS AS and allows users to configure their personal RCS-e interaction.
  • RCS-e EUCR to use end-user confirmation request to secure transactions (m-banking, m-ticketing, etc)
  • RCS-e XMPP GW to bridge RCS-e and XMPP communications (GTalk, FB chat, etc).
  • RCS-e LiveServe to create videoshare A2P and P2A use cases and also to power the videoshare in the thin/web clients when combined with RCS-e Thin Client Server.

We will scheduling meetings with telcos eager to launch RCS-e as much more than person to person messaging, IMS & IM suppliers to partner and also open to explore corporate development opportunities.

We will be exhibiting in 2 locations:

Reflections on the RCS seminar in MWC 2010

GSMA organized again a very interesting seminar on RCS as part of the Mobile World Congress GSMA activities. Almost 4 hours packed with experience from trials and vendors and operators heavyweights. It is difficult to say that there is no commitment after listening to the attendants.

I will summarize the most important points on our view, just a schematic, not the full session proceedings.

Telefónica: Stressed the dynamic nature of the future enhanced phonebook, one of the RCS strong points. Advantages of RCS services vs over-the-top: Native and embedded client + Universality + Telco service model.

Japan operators: Very intesting explanation of the timeline. PoC + Presence + IM launched in 2008, limited success due to poor interoperability. Step back and work on agreement under standard organisation umbrella. Now launching IMS based services and integrated with RCS group.

Trial operators: Ongoing and well.

AT&T: Sharing very interesting lessons learnt from SMS slow start and MMS blazing success in the US market: Interoperability between operators is key, it was lacking initially with SMS (and harmed it a lot), carefully worked for MMS (contributed to quick and massive success). GRX is not good enough, RCS interconnectivity should be IPX.

Very important insight from an Asia operator: when RCS service was launched, it didn't canibalize SMS traffic, on the contrary, SMS actually increased !!!. RCS stimulates communication, any kind of communication.

Reportedly, some nostrils perceived the uncertain aroma of doubt in the last part of the seminar, I think it is just another take in the continuous game between vendors (we won't ship until operators commit) and operators (we can't commit unless more units and models are available). Hopefully with RCS a common interest will leave behind this conundrum, as old as the mobile industry (remember the "God send mobiles" joke?).

And finally we want to remark that Solaiemes point of view remains intact. High tier devices apps could be the Ferraris, but the real success is the Ford-T, providing a nice experience everybody can afford in terms of cost & usability. Steve Jobs could be a nice "ferrari" type innovator, but the huge mass market impact should come from carriers (the communication Henry Ford's) if they do not throw the towel :-)

If you consider this post interesting to be shared, remember you can tweet this post using the button in the upper-left button :-)

Meet us at Mobile World Congress 2010!

This is our 3rd year exhibiting at Mobile Innovation Zone of the MWC (stand Hall 7-IZ12, download floorplan). Since we were a new born start-up till today we grew our portfolio, have some references but still needing funding, partners and potential customers to boost. MWC for us is "the event".
We are particulary motivated this year, as it seems carriers are finally decided (or at least, it seems so) to compete in new services under common user experience using Rich Communication Suite, and we are developing a platform to allow 3rd parties to create services on top of RCS.
We are also showcasing our mobile video framework to mash-up live mobile video from mobile to web application (enterprise and social media).

Eager to know about you !!!

2009 vs 2010, what we did and what we want to do.

Last december we posted about our goals and just checking the accomplisments we are partially happy. We survived a very tough year, with dramatically reduced innovation budgets in telcos and big companies. The common feeling was "wait and see", both, for big companies needing technology and new services to launch and also for VC.
About ou goal of being funded from international VC, we were contacted by several VC's and also we contacted a few ones and we learnt "for A rounds, VC's invest only where they have office", then, we focused in our portfolio, trying to increase references and revenue and will come back to them again :-)
Other important goal, partnerships with big telco suppliers, we explore it, it seems our product fits someone else, and in the very next future we could offer together new mobility and UC use cases. About other listed 2009 goals, public references for our LiveServe video solutions will be disclosed Q1-2010, and we were mentioned in analyst reports from 2 important firms.
We finally become a Red Herring Top 100 Global last January.
We could not grow the staff but we managed to increase the revenue while saving costs, and increase brand awareness combining few events and the use of social media.
We invest in our new product, RCS Solution Gateway, to approach coming telco opportunity to the world of the web for CRM, Social Media and advertisment.
It was a difficult decision, as with limited resources, the RCS platform development delayed the global cloud/saas offering of our previous platforms, but, for sure, we are not forgetting our vision about communication solutions as a service and our RCS platform is including this vision (API's) from the beginning.

We are participating in the RCSdevChallenge next January, and unveiling our RCS portfolio coming Mobile World Congress. Stay tunned, also unveiling RCS client, no mobile, no desktop :-)
2009 was a hard year, and survived, and 2010 looks better, as the pic tries to describe, now we see the goal bigger, more space to score: our portfolio getting awareness and with sinergies with other suppliers, VC's needing to invest againg the new funds raised, M&A activity last months shows the big players are moving to strengthen their portfolios and most important, carriers needing to offer compelling service to compete with internet style service providers.

We strongly believe 2010 will be a very important year for Solaiemes, the long telco developement/sales cycle was completed in our first products and is being monetized, and for new "challenge/venture", the RCS, we are arriving just in time, no too soon, no too late.
Yes, we know some people think 2010 will be similar of worse than 2010, but it is better to focus in working everyday to exceed expectations during 2010, isn't it?
Let us dream !!!

Our experience at MWC 2009

Hi,
For second year we exhibited at Mobile World Congress 2009, at Innovation Zone. We are very happy, even the final number of the event this year was aproximately 5% less due to economic downturn, we received much more visitors than last year, and what is more important, very focused in understanding our products and the applications for their businesses.

We showcase our portfolio: our usability (multimodal interaction) platform (AVISG), VoxServe, the PTT platform to create compelling services using push to talk, and the LiveServe 3.0, our LiveServe Solution FrameWork to create added value use cases based on mobile video.
Carrier technologists and enterprise segments leaders, IT integrators, banking CIO's, start-ups possible partners...made impossible with their kind an positive visits to take a few minutes rest :-)
We were also visited by several VC partners and we expect we can get the funding round planned during this year to positionate Solaiemes as a mobility solutions infrastructure reference in the market.
Solaiemes booth was also visited by several IT/Telco Analysts and we were shocked this week when being mentioned in the Frost & Sullivan MWC Key Takeaways keynote (by Ronald Gruia). Update 7/March/2008. The keynote is now available at slideshare.net. It is an easy to read/understand MWC highlights and foreseeing the trends summary.

Our experience exhibiting at Mobile World Congress

Hi,
We just come back after 4 crazy days, fortunately crazy days :-)
Our first time exhibiting at Mobile World Congress (Barcelona, Feb 11-14th) was a great experience for us. Our booth, located at Innovation Zone, in the Hall 7 (the same as media&entertaiment), was in the upper side of the exhibition area, a bit far away from main suppliers halls. In spite of that we received a lot of visitors.
We work several weeks in order to promote our presence there, and all the scheduled meetings took place (some of them thanks to the IRC Brokerage Event). The key fact was that we were visited by people from international carriers from Asia, America, Middle East and Europe, IMS involved people from leader suppliers, journalists, mobile evangelizers. As summary, we were impressed.

We were also visited by our current costumers and partners. We hope to repeat next year with new amazing things to enhance Mobility :-)
Thanks to all the people spending some time to find our booth and seeing our products/solutions, thanks.

some pics of Hall 7 and the booth setup
